William J. Lachanski, 59, of Clizbe Avenue, Amsterdam, NY; passed away Thursday afternoon May 3, 2012.
Born in Amsterdam on June 2, 1952, he is the son of Dorothy Lewek Lachanski and the late Stanley Lachanski.
Bill received his education in the Amsterdam school system. He also attended Fulton Montgomery Community College and the State University of New York at Brockport, Brockport, NY; where he received his degree in Health Science.
Bill was employed by the State of New York as a Bureau Director of Quality Assurance in Albany, NY.
He loved horses, Saratoga Race Track and his family.
Bill was a former communicant of The Church of St. John the Baptist and most recently of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam.
Survivors include his mother,Dorothy Lewek Lachanski, his wife Ann Martuscello Lachanski, to whom he was married on October 20, 1985, two daughters, Jessica Lachanski of Guilderland, NY; and Abby Lachanski of Amsterdam, many nieces, nephews, cousins and brothers and sisters in-law.
Bill was predeceased by his father, Stanley Lachanski and his brother, Tom Lachanski.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning at 8:30 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc. 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY; followed at 9:15 by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam.
Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
Calling hours are Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary.
