Sophia Mary Theresa Sardonia

Sophia (Greco) Sardonia, 98, passed peacefully on September 1, 2026 at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care in Gloversville, NY.

She was born on December 10, 1927 to Joseph and Theresa Martuscello Greco.

Sophia was a longtime parishioner and communicant of St. Mary's Church and will be remembered for her warmth, quiet strength and devotion to her family. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and many friends.

Sophia was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Anthony R. Sardonia, as well as her brothers, Luigi Greco and Carmen Greco

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Amsterdam.

Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. preceding the Funeral Mass.

Memorial gifts in Sophia’s name may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
