Sharon Ann Kaszuba was born on February 21, 1957 and passed peacefully with her family by her side on March 6, 2023. She was the daughter of Dorothy Lieckfeldt Bartman and Albert Bartman, both of Amsterdam. She was predeceased by her brother, Ronald Bartman. She is survived by her husband Ronald who she married on September 15, 1984. Sharon is survived by her daughter Melissa and son in law Kyle Boni of Rexford as well as her son Ronald Kaszuba Jr. and daughter in law Amy of Niskayuna. Sharon is survived by four grandchildren: Aryanna, Ray, Roger, Brooke and expecting a fifth grandchild in June, all of Niskayuna and Rexford respectively. She is also survived by two sister in laws, Nora Bartman and Gail Rogers, as well as nephews, a niece and many cousins.
Sharon was a graduate of Wilbur H Lynch High School Class of 1975 and continued her education at Fulton Montgomery Community College. She was employed by Mohasco in Amsterdam where she met her husband Ronald, followed by a lifelong career at Verizon Communications where she retired in 2010. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and IBEW 2213.
Sharon enjoyed a simple life. In her younger years, she took countless trips to Florida and Hershey, Pennsylvania with her family. She enjoyed her last trip to Florida with her husband, son, daughter in law and two grandsons in November 2022. She enjoyed visiting lighthouses locally and far while also collecting lighthouses. She enjoyed baking with her children over the years. Sharon was an avid reader, reading endless amounts of books from the Amsterdam Library. She also enjoyed sewing and crafts. If Sharon wasn’t reading, you would be likely to find her watching Days Of Our Lives or following NBA or WNBA games. She was a passionate New York Knicks fan, attending many preseason games and traveling to Madison Square Garden for in-season games over the years.
Sharon was very passionate about her church Trinity Lutheran, which she was a lifelong member of. Growing up, Sharon was part of Trinity Lutheran’s junior choir and youth group. She participated as an usher and was part of their Bible study group and prayer chain. She sewed prayer shawls and enjoyed baking for the church’s Christmas and ice cream socials.
Sharon’s family would like to thank the medical staff at Albany Medical Center, Sunnyview Rehabilitation Facility, and Community Hospice during Sharon’s final days. They are also very grateful for the guidance and care Sharon received from Dr. Alan Boulos of Albany Medical Center over the last five years.
Funeral services to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 42 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010, with Pastor William T. Hodgetts, Jr officiating.
Calling hours are Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
