Robert F. Kaiser

Robert F. Kaiser, 79, of Amsterdam, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday July 12, 2026, with his loving family at his side.

Born on February 5, 1947, he was the son of the late Robert C. and Jane D. Kaiser. Attending St. Mary’s Institute until 1962, he was a 1964 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served during the Vietnam War. He was Honorably discharged in 1969 and then served in the NY Air National Guard until his retirement in 1993.

He was united in marriage to Monica Nicosia on May 10, 1969. Their 55-year union was blessed with three children, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. They shared a wonderful life together until her passing in 2024.

Bob was deeply committed to his community and took great pride in giving back. As one of the six charter members of the Irish American Club, he helped open its doors in 1971 and devoted countless hours over the years volunteering and supporting the club until its closing. His love of sports was matched only by his love of coaching. Bob spent many years supporting Little Giants football and Cinderella Softball before moving on to the high school level as head coach of the Bishop Scully High School Lady Mohawks softball team. Even decades later, many still affectionately called him "Coach"—a title he held with great pride.

When he wasn't coaching, Bob could often be found on the field himself. A dependable third baseman, he played for years in Amsterdam's Men's Recreation Softball League, proudly representing several teams. But no team ever earned his dedication quite like his beloved Cleveland Indians, whose wins and losses he followed with unwavering loyalty.

Perhaps mostly, he will be remembered most for the profound pride and love he held for his family. He was the happiest when talking and bragging about his grandkids. Through all of their academics, sports, or military service, he was their biggest fan.

Bob is survived by his daughters; Carrie Fiebka (George), Maggie Hotaling (Chris) and Abby Hamilton (Jeremy). Brothers; Thomas Kaiser (Melanie) and Peter Kaiser (Mary Claire). Sister-in-law, Joanne Belev (George). Grandchildren; Casandra Bright and Theresa Slowinski, Ryan, Sam, and Marcy Hotaling, Robby and Alex Hamilton. His beloved great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and many cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 11:00a.m. at St, Mary’s Church, Amsterdam, NY, with Fr. Nathan Resila as celebrant.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bob's family at the church from 10:00 a.m. preceding the funeral Mass.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of his long-time friends at Riley Mortuary.
