Peter Leonard Shandorf

Peter Leonard Shandorf, 65, of Amsterdam, passed away September 10, 2026.

Pete was born in Amsterdam on April 25, 1961, a son of the late John and Marjorie (nee Case) Shandorf. He attended Amsterdam schools and graduated from AHS in 1979. He lettered in both baseball and basketball while at AHS. He graduated from SUNY Morrisville and SUNY Brockport with a degree in Business Administration.

Following college Pete lived and worked in Schenectady, NY and Greenacres, Florida before returning to Amsterdam, where he worked for Liberty ARC for many years.

Pete is survived by his brother Patrick Shandorf (Evelyn) of West Palm Beach, Fla and his sister Marlene Syzek (Gary) from Fulshear, Texas, and nephews Michael Syzek from Houston, and Joshua Knisley and Jarrod Knisley from Winter Springs, Fla. his aunt, Elizabeth “Betty” Terwilliger  of Amsterdam, NY and host of cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 17 , 2026 at 11:00 a.m at St. Mary’s Church, Amsterdam, NY.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Pete’s family at the church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the funeral Mass.

Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
