Mary Kate Lomanto, 63, of Amsterdam, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Born in Amsterdam, August 14, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Francis A. “Dutch” and Marion Traskas Howlan.
Mary Kate received her education at St. Mary’s Institute and graduated from Bishop Scully High School. She also attended Fulton Montgomery Community College.
She worked with her father at Howlan Realty and was the owner of KM Scarves and a longtime Aide at Amsterdam High School.
Mary Kate was a loving and devoted wife, mother of four and grandmother. She loved all sports and attended all of her children’s sporting events. She enjoyed trips with her husband to Turning Stone Casino, sitting by her pool tanning, being a community volunteer, shopping, crafts and going out to dinner.
Mary Kate was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church.
Mary Kate is survived by her loving husband, James E. Lomanto at home, her loving children, Katherine Rose Lomanto of Potsdam, NY; Nicholas, Peter and Maria and her cherished grandson, Theodore Lomanto all of Amsterdam, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held Friday, February 4, 2022 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam.
In accordance with current health guidelines, facial coverings will be required.
A private funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church.
