Mary Beth was born in New Haven CT on June 2, 1942 to the late Thomas H. and Ida M. White Murphy.
She was raised in Amsterdam and graduated from St. Mary’s Institute and Amsterdam School of Commerce.
In addition to raising her sons and being a homemaker, Mary Beth held several office administrative positions in the Amsterdam area where she was instrumental in day-to-day operations. These included with her father and brothers at Bonded Insulation Company in Hagaman, Amsterdam Memorial Hospital, The Carpet Chest family business, and most recently with the Cloverpatch Center for Disability Services.
Mary Beth was a great cook and host to her friends, family, and anyone else who visited. Always energetic and with a smile on her face, she was forever the optimist and looking for ways to enjoy the moment. She loved the outdoors in every season, enjoying skiing, flower gardening, walking and visiting with neighbors, pick-your-own produce farms, and swimming in the family pool. In her later years, she and her husband John took on various activities including snowshoeing, hiking, country dancing and canoeing.
“Nana” was adored by her grandchildren and made the most of every minute spent with them, providing valuable memories for them to cherish. She will be lovingly remembered for her adopted “Tequila Sheila” radio call-in personality and singing and dancing to Jimmy Buffet with her grandchildren.
Mary Beth was predeceased by parents, her siblings Graden Thomas Murphy, Michael C. Murphy, and Constance G. “Connie” Murphy.
Mary Beth is survived by her husband, John V. DeLuca who loved and cared for her, her sons John V DeLuca II (Kathy) of Wrentham, MA, Kevin DeLuca (Gena) of Portsmouth, RI, Mark DeLuca (Kellie) of Broadalbin, NY and Darren DeLuca of Glenville, NY. and her beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
