Marvin G. Quick, 78, of Johnstown, NY, and formerly of the Rockton area of Amsterdam, passed away unexpectedly on April 30, 2025, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam. Born on December 15, 1946, he was the son of the late John (Ted) Quick Sr. and E. Harriet Blunck Quick.
Marve was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School and proudly dedicated many years of service as firefighter for the City of Amsterdam, where he was honored as Firefighter of the Year—a reflection of his courage, commitment,and care for his community.
A man of deep faith, Marve was a devoted member of Adirondack Baptist Church in Gloversville, where he found great strength and fellowship. He will be remembered for his kind heart, generosity, unwavering faith, and the deep love he had for his family and friends.
He is survived by his brother, David M. Quick, as well as several nieces,nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his siblings Audrey F. Quick Zabo, John “Bud” Quick Jr., and Stuart W. Quick.
Cremation was held at Park View Crematory in Schenectady.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 9:30 a.m., at Hagaman Mills Cemetery in Hagaman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marvin’s name to Adirondack Baptist Church, 1431 NY-29, Gloversville, NY
