Kathleen Cetnar, 77, of Amsterdam, passed away on May 30, 2026 with her family at her side.
Born in Amsterdam on June 5, 1948, a daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Slavik) Lech and was a lifelong area resident.
Kathy proudly graduated from St. Mary’s High Institute in Amsterdam. Her ambition in life led her to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of St Rose.
She worked at Mohawk Finishing Products for 30 years, last serving as the VP of Finance. Kathy moved on to be the CFO of Proctor’s Theater until she retired. She was also one of the owners of the Kindred Spirits store with beloved friends.
Kathy was a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Hagaman and an active women’s advocate throughout her life. Her membership in Zonta International helped to continue building a better world for women and girls. She was also an active member of St. Mary’s Healthcare Auxiliary.
Happiness came from spending time by the pool with friends and family, enjoying the races at Saratoga along with various venues with her husband, keeping in touch with her “Mohawk Family”, doing yoga, getting in her steps, and her cats. She attended numerous shows in the area and NYC as she loved the theater.
Kathy is survived by: her loving husband of 53 years Raymond; her son John Lauriello (Denise); grandchildren Jennifer Lauriello and Anthony Lauriello; sisters Lorraine Murphy and Jo Anne Meilunas. She is also survived by numerous caring cousins, nieces, nephews and devoted friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Kathy’s family on Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. to 10: 45 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, 51 Pawling St., Hagaman, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Father Nate Resila as celebrant. The Rite of Committal will be at St. Stephen’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to The Wyatt Foundation c/o Conceive Fertility Foundation which can be found in the charities section of this tribute page or to Montgomery County SPCA, 1232 NY-5S, Anmsterdam, NY 12010.
