Julie A Mead

Julie A. Mead, 63, of Amsterdam, New York, passed away peacefully at home on October 30, 2026.

Born on October 3, 1963, Julie was the cherished daughter of Edward Gomula and Patricia (Edwards) Gomula. She lived her life with a vibrant, happy, and pleasant spirit that warmed every room she entered. Julie was well-known and deeply respected in her community as a dedicated cosmetology instructor at the HFM Career and Technical Center, where she shared her passion and mentored countless students entering the field. Julie was affectionately known to her students as Mama Mead. For many local residents, she was also a beloved, familiar face at Garden Bug, always greeting people with her signature warmth and kindness.

Julie’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Dave; her siblings, Ed and Mary; her devoted son, David; her cherished daughters, Stasya and Lindsay; and her grandchildren, Jonathan Jr., Valerie, Valencia, and Finnley. Her bright personality, joyful outlook on life, and the profound impact she made on her family, friends, and students will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Julie’s family on Friday, November 6, 2026 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Riley Mortuary, 110 Division St. Amsterdam.

A funeral home service will begin at 7:00 with Pastor Mike Arbige presiding.
