Judy Baker-Barkevich

Judy Baker-Barkevich of Amsterdam, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

She was born on November 23, 1943 in Amsterdam to the late Violet and Joseph Colabello. Judy was also preceded in death by her son Richard Barker (Colleen), her brother Joseph Colabello and her sisters Kelly Mammarelli and Joanie Gradert

Judy was the beloved wife of Gary Barkevich and the devoted mother of Charles Baker (Josie), Fred Colabello (Debbie), Bonita Kowalski (Walter) Debbie Baker, Michelle Hemstreet (John), dear sister of Rena Mesick and Frank Colabello (Irene), and sister-in-law of Sheila Colabello.

She was the cherished grandmother of Meghan Kowalski, Walter Kowalski, Marissa Baker, Courteney Baker, Peyton Baker, Krystal Colabello, Fred Colabello Jr., Katie Farry Leggiero, Diana Steber, Kimberly McClarren, Ashly Hathaway, Jonathan Hemstreet, Leeionua Ramirez-Faboskay, Jaimy Lewis, and Katelyn Baker.

Judy’s family brought her immense joy and she treasured the times she shared with each of them.

Judy was an active member and volunteer in her community, always doing what she could to help those in need through agencies including Montgomery County Office for Aging, Fulmont Community Center, Domestic Violence Services and the Salvation Army.

A Funeral Service will be held for Judy on Monday, October 19, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Riley Mortuary, 110 Division St. Amsterdam, NY. with Pastor Siegfried Ignecia of Cavalry Assembly of God Church as officiant. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Judy’s family at the funeral home from 10:00 AM preceding the service. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ft. Johnson, NY
