Joseph R. Pacino, 93, of Gray Street and lifelong resident of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 21, 2025.
Born on September 17, 1932, Joe was the son of Michele and Louisa Natale Pacino.
Joe graduated from the former Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High Scool and studied at FMCC. He was a longtime fan of the NY Giants and NY Yankees as well as being an avid bowler and downhill ski enthusiast, enjoying many winter weekends with his family at Lake Placid.
He worked for more than 30 years as a bookkeeper for Terry Haggerty Tire Company, Albany, NY.
Joe served with the U.S. Army from 1952 until his honorable discharge as a sergeant 1954. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two bronze service stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Joe and his loving wife Marie Colistra Pacino were married for 65 years before she passed on March 10, 2022.
Joe was also predeceased by his son, Michael G. Pacino in 2009 and sister, Vicenza “Ginger” Mercadante in 2013.
Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Patti Petrosino (Dan) of Malta, NY and Michele “Shelli” Pacino (Greg Jenkins) of Conway, SC; granddaughter, Jessica Petrosino Szurek (Justin), great-grandchildren; Michael and Lucia MacMeekin and Danni Szurek. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive
Visitation and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church this spring, with a date and time to be announced.
