Joseph H. Manasseri, 89. passed away peacefully at home on May 25, 2024.


He was born in Amsterdam, NY on November 28, 1934 to the late Pasquale and Josephine (Nardo) Manasseri.


Joe received his education in the Amsterdam school system and went on to work as a Canal Structure Operator with the New York State Canal Corporation at Rotterdam Lock 9.


He received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army for his honest and faithful service.


Joe was a member of the John J. Wyszomirski American Legion Post 701 and South Side Veterans.


He enjoyed gardening, bocce and playing in Herk’s Dart League.


Joe loved his family unconditionally and above all, the joy in seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who put smiles on his face.


Joe is survived by his wife of 38 years, Deborah Manasseri; sons Scott (Val), Mike (Pearl), Joe (Sheri) and David; daughters Tammy (Joe) and Helene (Mark), sister Carmella DeLuca; twelve grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one niece and four nephews.


In addition to his parents, Joe is predeceased by his sister, Benedetta Betty Parisi and brothers in law Louis Parisi and Mike DeLuca, also two grandsons and one great granddaughter.


Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Joe’s family Friday, May 31, 2024 from 10 am to 12:00 pm. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc. 110 Division St., Amsterdam, NY. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm to be led by Father Derik Roy, Rector of Christ Episcopal Church, Ballston Spa, NY.


Interment will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY.
