John Flanagan Cuddy

John Flanagan Cuddy, 59, formerly of Pawling Street, Hagaman, NY; passed away Sunday, December 14, 2025.

Born in Silver Spring, Maryland on April 4, 1966, he was the son of the late James J. Cuddy and Barabra and Eugene Krajewski.

John was a 1984 graduate of Amsterdam High School and earned an associate degree from Fulton-Montgomery Community College.

John was a longtime member of AFSCME Council 66, Local 1614 and retired from the City of Amsterdam Department of Public Works as a laborer and a seasonal grounds keeper at the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course. He previously worked for Callanan Industries.

He was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Amsterdam

John’s home was always filled with music, specifically Lynyrd Skynyrd. You could also find him fishing for rainbow trout at Great Sacandaga Lake or hunting in the woods during deer season. He was an avid history buff, especially World War II. John was the happiest when he got to spend time with family carrying on generational traditions, whether it was toasting a Guinness for St. Patrick’s Day or making Polish golumpki. He was quick with a joke, full of warmth, and endlessly generous with his time and spirit.

John is survived by his sisters, Erin Vicinanzo (Matthew) of Birmingham, AL and Jamie Durfree (Jeremy) of Napa Valley, CA; step-sister, Lori Avery of New Smyrna Beach, FL; his nieces, nephews, grandniece, grandnephew, uncle, Michael Cuddy, aunt, Ellen Vainosky and a host of Cuddy and Vainosky cousins.

John is predeceased by his step-brother, Rob Avery.
