Eugene T. “Sarge” Krajewski, 83, of Rockton Street, Amsterdam, NY; passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Eugene was born in Amsterdam on December 28, 1940 to the late Eugene “Dave” and Mary Rogala Krajewski.
He graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School Class of ‘58 and went on to work at General Electric Company as a steel worker until his retirement.
He served honorably in the Army National Guard from 1959 to 1961 at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
During his retirement Eugene enjoyed spending time playing golf, watching the thoroughbreds at the Saratoga Race Course and especially loved spending time with his family. Eugene was an avid walker and completed several miles every morning.
Most importantly Eugene was a good and faithful servant and had a strong devotion to his faith and the Rosary, and was a longtime daily communicant at St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam.
On June 1, 1973 he was united in marriage to Barbara Flanagan Krajewski. They enjoyed 35 years together until her passing on April 19, 2009.
Eugene is survived by his stepchildren John Cuddy of Amsterdam and Erin Vicinanzo (Matt) of Birmingham, Alabama; step grandchildren, Erica Farris, Grace, Riley, Brodie and Luke Vicinanzo; step great-grandchildren Paige and Jameson Jackson; sisters Bernadette Rich (Michael) and Sylvia Osterlitz; nieces and nephews.
Eugene’s Funeral Mass will be Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. St. Mary’s Church,156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Eugene's family on Friday, August 2, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
