Eleanor L. Dufel, 87, of Mohawk Drive, Tribes Hill, New York, passed away Wednesday afternoon April 17, 2013 at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam, New York.

Born in Rensselaer, New York on January 5, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Hazlett J. and Catherine M. Campbell Quackenbush.

Eleanor was a 1943 graduate of Fonda High School.

She was a homemaker.

Eleanor was a parishioner and communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Tribes Hill, New York.

Eleanor is survived by her husband, Earl F. Dufel to whom she was married to on November 19, 1944, one daughter, Earlene Melious (Andrew), and one son, Kevin Dufel (June) all of Tribes Hill, one brother, Hazlett Quackenbush (Margaret) of Amsterdam, four grandsons, Matthew Melious, Brian Melious (Brooke) Justin, Melious (Erin) and Craig Dufel, one granddaughter, Kristina Dufel, one great grandson, Brady Melious and two great granddaughters, Madelyn and Megin Melious. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Eleanor was also predeceased by her son, Dennis J. Dufel , her daughter, Kathleen Ann Dufel and her brother, Lawrence J "Bud" Quackenbush.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, New York.

There are no calling hours.
