Elaine Pagliaro Nicosia, 95, of Amsterdam, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026 with family at her side.
Elaine was born in Amsterdam, NY on November 2, 1930 to the late Rocco and Laura Martuscello Pagliaro.
She graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School and Amsterdam School of Commerce, and first worked as a private secretary at Geo. H. Maus and then at Mohawk Finishing Products for 25 years.
Elaine was a longtime parishioner at the former St. Michael the Archangel Church and most recently at St. Mary's Church, Amsterdam
On May 11, 1952 she was married to Vincenzo “Jim” Nicosia. Together they raised a family and enjoyed more than seventy years together until his passing on March 18, 2023
In addition to her husband and parents, Elaine was also predeceased by her sister, Philomena Tambasco.
Elaine leaves her four sons, James (Linda), Michael (Cathy), Edward, David (Marie), and daughter, Lori (Bill) Krom, twelve grandchildren, nineteengreat-grandchildren, two great-great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Elaine's family on Friday, April 17, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 pm at Riley Mortuary, 110 Division St. Amsterdam, NY 12010
Elaine's funeral Mass will be on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 11:00 a.mSt. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main St. Amsterdam, NY. with Father Nate Resila as celebrant.
Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
Elaine’s family is exceptionally grateful to Dr. Emily Etzkorn, St. Mary’s Healthcare, Community Hospice and her Home Healthcare aides for the care they provided for Elaine.
