Edward J. Wiencek Jr., passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026 after a long illness.

Born in Amsterdam, NY on December 16, 1955, he was the son of the late Edward and Lottie Wiencek.

Ed received his education in the Amsterdam school system and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School, Class of 1974.

Ed was employed by the NYS Canal System and later by NYS Division for Youth at the Tryon School in Johnstown, NY. He then moved to Florida in 2022 and worked for (MCTFT) Multijurisdictional Counterdrug Taskforce Training for 10 years.

Ed was a member of the 1973-1974 Amsterdam High School varsity baseball and basketball teams. In 1974 the Rugged Rams baseball team won the Class A Championship with Ed as the undefeated starting pitcher. He loved playing golf and riding his Harley.

Ed is survived by his wife, Terri Mormile Wiencek, his sister, Pamela Montagnino (Vinny), brother-in- law Artie Mormile (Margo), aunt Ann Sherman, nephews Joseph Montagnino, Josh Jason and Justin Mormile, niece Shannon Mormile, and cousin, Tom Sobkowicz (Chris).

In keeping with Ed’s wishes that there be no formal service.

There will be a celebration of life for Ed this summer.
