Constance Riccio, 72, Amsterdam, NY died on May 6, encircled by the love of her family. Born the third of four daughters to Peter and Alberta Riccio, Connie lived a life marked by integrity, humility and courage. Possessed of a keen intellect, Connie could reliably discern what truly mattered; she followed her own true heart, having no patience for pretense or falsehood. This suited her well in her role as Caseworker for Adult Protective Services of Montgomery County. For over twenty years, she championed the dignity of each individual she served, earning the admiration and respect of colleagues and clients alike. Guided by a compass singularly her own, Connie caused the vulnerable to feel reclaimed, restored, and redeemed. To those she loved, most especially her children, Connie gave her all. She was everyone’s favorite sister, aunt or friend. She will be missed beyond measure.
In addition to her parents, Connie is predeceased by her husband Ralph Sherry. She is survived by her beloved children, Catherine Sherry and John (K.C.) Sherry, her sisters, Maria Riccio Bryce, Michela Riccio, and Sophie (Kevin) Kozak, her nephews and niece, Duncan (C.C.) Bryce, Andrew (Ness) Bryce, Peter Bryce, Salvatore (Larissa) Fringo, Sarah Riccio, Michael (Rachel) Kozak, and Thomas (Mackenzie) Kozak, great-nieces and nephews, Lisa, John, Eloise, Theodora, Athena, Lucius, Nolan and Vivian, many cousins and dearly cherished friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 11, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Amsterdam, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a local family whose needs were close to Connie’s heart.
