Anne Elizabeth (Harrington) Farrell

Anne Elizabeth (Harrington) Farrell passed away from natural causes at Ellis Hospital on Friday, March 13, 2026.

Anne was born in Amsterdam on May 30, 1953, and was the oldest of 10 children.

She graduated from Bishop Scully High School in 1971.

Anne attended Nursing School at St. Mary’s School of Nursing, and she completed her RN Degree at Fulton Montgomery Community College.

She was predeceased by her parents Anne and Jack Harrington, and brother Marty Harrington, all of Amsterdam.

Anne is survived by her children: Brian Farrell (Nicole) and Patrick Farrell (Jessica); and her grandchildren Katherine, Madeline, Braelyn, Daniel and Dean Farrell.

She is also survived by her siblings: Tim Harrington (Joanne), sister-in-law Valerie Boughton, Maureen Bernat (Skip Sgarlata), Nora Bartman, Eileen French (Lee), Denis Harrington (Caroline), Sheila Sawyer (John), Mary Kate Jensen (Ken), and Brigid Reyes (David).

She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as cousins.

Anne recently retired from the NYS Department of Corrections and Commounity Services, as a counselor for addiction and rehabilitation.

She was involved with ALANON for many years and also worked with multiple non-profit organizations.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's' Church, 156 E. Main St. Amsterdam, NY with Father Nate Resila as celebrant.
