Wayne L. Reichel

Wayne L. Reichel, 61 of 127 Firefly Meadow Road, Fultonville, NY passed away on September 17, 2020 at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York City while surrounded by his Loving Family.

Born in Amsterdam, NY on May 08, 1959, he was the son of Lawrence Karl Reichel and Dorothy Andrus Reichel.

He attended St. Joseph’s School, later graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch 77’. Wayne was also a graduate of Riverside School of Aeronautics in Utica, NY with a degree in Aviation Mechanics.

In 2014 after 30 plus years he retired from the New York State Thruway Authority as a Heavy Equipment Operator. After retirement nothing brought Wayne more pleasure than hunting, fishing, tinkering with his boat, and eating! You could find him on his boat or in his garage singing away to himself while designing his latest fishing lure with a snack in hand. Typically a Payday candy bar. When he wasn’t being crafty he was tidying up his lawn. He took great pride in keeping a well kempt home. Another pastime of Wayne’s was creating graphic tees and sweatshirts. He loved a good saying! He branded many shirts with images of his cabin and funny sayings. Such as “We will do anything for a buck at Reichel’s hunting cabin”.Wayne had a great sense of humor and was often considered goofy. You always walked away from him laughing and wondering what he was talking about! One of his most endearing qualities; the ability to make people laugh! This will be greatly missed in his absence.

Wayne was a member of Crossroads Community Church, American Legion Post 701, Teamsters Local 72 and The NRA.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife Lori Tessiero-Semkiw, Glen, NY. They shared twenty-eight years together. He always said one of his happiest days was finally making Lori his wife! Stepson, Nicholas ( Krystel) Semkiw, Manhattan, NY; Stepdaughter, Gina-Marie Semkiw,Amsterdam, NY; Brother, Brian (Joann) Reichel, Delmar, NY; Sister, Sherry (Michael) Sollecito, Amsterdam, NY; Nieces, Geena Sollecito, Rachel Reichel and Nephew, Michael D. Sollecito; “Uncle Len” Leonard (Mary) Reichel; Special Sister-In-Law, Mary Anne Semkiw; Several cousins, dear friends, and beloved and loyal dog, Raco.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the humane society of your choice.

Wayne was a passionate animal lover and rescued chocolate labs all of his life.

A Memorial Service open to the public will be held on Monday, November 09, 2020, from 3-6 pm at Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Due to COVID-19, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
