Sylvia Marie Swift

Sylvia Marie Swift passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November

20th, 2023. Born on November 21st, 1957 to Harry and Rosetta May Swift, she was a 1976

graduate of Schoharie High School. Upon graduation she moved to Amsterdam and was

employed at Coleco Building 39 in the quality control department. With the subsequent closing of

Coleco she attended FMCC where received an associate degree in criminal justice and

worked at the town court in Fonda for Judge Sise. She went on to work at Ward Products in

Amsterdam before helping disabled people at Liberty ARC as a direct support professional.

Sylvia was so much more than a name on a time clock, she was a kind, generous and

empathetic soul who loved to dance, bake (especially her Italian lemon knot cookies),

spending countless hours with her grandchildren, cheering on her N.Y. Giants and gardening.

Sylvia was our rock, our safe harbor, the hole in our hearts cannot be measured or filled.

Sylvia was predeceased by her parents Harry and Rosetta Swift and is survived by her life

partner Mark Pacillo, her children, Ryan Czeck, Marque Helene Herr, and Chad Pacillo along

with her grandchildren Andrew and Madison Herr. She also leaves behind her loving siblings

Steve Swift, Daniel Swift (Deborah), Vivian Fitz-James, and brother-in-law Robert Fitz-James

along with 11 nieces, nephews, and 5 great nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial gathering at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010, Friday, December 1st from 3:30 to 5:30.
