Shirley Kerr

Shirley A. Kerr, 77, formerly of Lakeside Avenue, Amsterdam, NY, passed away Wednesday morning, June 17, 2015, at Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Center in Amsterdam.

Born in Sinclairville, NY, September 13, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Theodore W. and Mary E. Wilcox Childs.

Shirley was a 1955 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School in Cassadaga, NY and Woman’s Christian Association School of Nursing in Jamestown NY. She was last employed as an L.P. N. at Dunkirk Hospital until her retirement.

Shirley attended Covenant Presbyterian Church OPC in Amsterdam and prior to that was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church and choir in Lakewood, NY.

Shirley is survived by three sons, Bruce C. (Linda) Kerr of Yukon, OK; Gregory A. Kerr, State of Texas, Douglas William Kerr of Bellevue, NE ; three daughters, Sheryl A. Johnson (Philip) of Amsterdam, NY; Nancy J. Kerr of Broadalbin, NY and Mary L. Riehle of Olean, NY. one brother, Roger Childs of Sinclairville, NY, one sister, Wilma Abbott (Carl) of Holmesville, OH; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews also survive.

Shirley was also predeceased by her sister, Jean Calkins and her son-in-law, Karl Riehle

Funeral services, with Pastor Timothy Gregson officiating, will be held Saturday morning, June 20, 2015 at 11:00 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, OPC, 7 Trinity Place, Amsterdam, NY. 12010,

Interment will follow at Van Vechten Cemetery in the Town of Florida.
