Sara Sheridan

Sara L. Sheridan, 96, formerly of Midline Road, Amsterdam, NY, passed away Tuesday morning April 29, 2014 at River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam.

Born in Chapel Hill, TN; on June 5, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Guy G. and Lois Bartles Lee.
Sara received her education in the Chapel Hill school system.

She was last employed as an assistant supervisor at Tryon School for Boy’s in Johnstown, NY, retiring in 1979.


Sara was former member of the First Baptist Church in Amsterdam.

Her husband, Emery E. Sheridan to whom she married on June 13, 1975, passed away on July 18, 1996.
Sara is survived by two sons, David Perretta (Mary) of Knoxville TN; and Ernest Perretta Jr., of Amsterdam, NY, one daughter, Mary Lou Holloway of Amsterdam, one brother, Guy G. Lee Jr. of Nashville, TN; four grandchildren, Christopher, Brian and John Holloway, and Alane Velasquez. Seven great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Sara was also predeceased by two brothers, John and Paul Lee.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning at 11:00 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010

Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the service at the Riley Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Sara’s name may be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny Corners Road, or to River Ridge Living Center- Activities Fund, 100 Sandy Drive, both of Amsterdam, NY 12010.
