Salvatore Laconte

Salvatore V. “Sam” LaConte 86, of Evelyn Avenue, Amsterdam NY, passed away Sunday morning May 11, 2014 at home.

Born in Amsterdam, NY on November 20, 1927, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Castellesi LaConte.

Sam received his education and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam.

Sam was the plant manager for Steinberg Brothers Amsterdam Glove Company in Amsterdam, NY.

Sam was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church and a member of its Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Columbian Social Club, St. Michael’s Holy Name Bowling League, the Suburban Bowling League and the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course, where he was an avid golfer.

His wife, Therese Delli Veneri LaConte to whom he married August 15, 1948 survives Sam. He is also survived by two sons, Robert J. LaConte (Judy) of Norton, MA; James LaConte (Kathy) of Bradenton, FL; one daughter Patricia Villa (Mike) of Amsterdam, NY; four sisters, Angeline Fondacaro of Amsterdam, Theresa Testa of Hagaman, NY; Mary Dlugolecki of Rensselaer, NY and Josephine Bracchi (John) of Amsterdam, ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 8:30 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc. 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY, followed at 9:15 by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam.

Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.

Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 to 7 at the Riley Mortuary.
