Robert E. Hotaling, 91, of Tribes Hill, NY passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side Wednesday, March 1, 2023 after a short illness.


Born in Amsterdam, NY July 26, 1931, he was the son of George and Catherine Razzano Hotaling.


Bob was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School. Class of 1949.


He was employed as a truck driver for over 40 years with Sonoco Paper Company in Amsterdam, retiring in 1999.


In his younger years, Bob enjoyed camping, boating, water skiing on the Great Sacandaga Lake, taking trips to Cape Cod and Florida. Bob was a member of the Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church and both the Tribes Hill and Fort Johnson Seniors.


On January 6, 1951, Bob was united in marriage to Marilyn J. Welke Hotaling who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Debra Shibley and Laurie Smith, one son, Thomas Hotaling, several grandchildren and great grandchildren and a special niece, Lisa Spagnola.


Bob was predeceased by a daughter, Patti MacNaughton and a brother Charles Stafford.


A special thank you to his loving and devoted granddaughter, Morgan Smith, who was his primary caretaker for many years and who fulfilled all of his wishes for being able to remain home until he passed.


A graveside service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
