Paul Edward Dufresne

Paul Edward Dufresne, 89, died peacefully on July 31, 2018 at River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam, NY.

Paul was born in Amsterdam, NY on July 2, 1929, and was the third of nine children to William and Mary Riley Dufresne.

Paul was a graduate of St. Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam, Siena College with a B.S. in economics and from Oneonta College where he received his masters in teaching.

Paul was an honorably discharged United States Navy veteran, who served during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1954.

He taught 6th grade math at Perth Central School for 31 years, alongside his wife, and many colleagues who became dear friends to Paul and his family.

Paul was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Maria, whom he was married to for 57 years, his brothers, William and David and sister, Mary Liccardi.

Paul is survived by his five children, Maria Wnek (Gary), Paul A. Dufresne (Anne), Kathleen Dufresne, James Dufresne and Thomas Dufresne (Charmaine), five sisters, Margaret Cosentino (Thomas) Rita McClary, Jean Colistra, Julie Gomulka (Jack) and Kathy Andrews. Paul was also blessed with seven grandchildren, Janice Khauslender (Alex), Katherine Perez (Robert), Christine Catalogna (David), Phillip Dufresne, Carly Dukart (Daniel), Benjamin Dufresne and Jonathan Dufresne and three great grandchildren, Lucas Catalogna, Gavin Khauslender and Maximilan Perez.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 10:30 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010, followed at 11:15 by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, with Rev. Jeffrey L’Arche, M.S. officiating.
Inurnment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery Fort Johnson, NY.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the funeral service at the Riley Mortuary.
