Marygina Ortiz

MaryGina Ortiz, 59, of Amsterdam, NY, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023 at home with her loving family by her side.

Born in Nyack, NY on April 30, 1963, she was the daughter of Italian immigrants Gino and Elizabeth Dattilo Delfino.

MaryGina graduated from Canisius College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in communication. She began her career working for a communications company, but she found her true calling as a loving and dedicated wife and mother to her three children.

MaryGina enjoyed traveling, boating, skiing, dancing, listening to country music, and spending time with her family. She taught her friends and family about the finer things in life, particularly good food and wine.

On September 3, 1988, MaryGina was united in marriage to Dr. Gerald Ortiz, M.D. Along with her husband, MaryGina is survived by her father, Gino, two sons, Michael Ortiz (Sara Thomas) of Charlotte, NC and Antonio Ortiz of Amsterdam, NY; one daughter, Alexa Hadley (Patrick) of Knoxville, TN; and two sisters, Sandra Gorlach (Bob) and Lisa Delfino.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 39 St. John Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010 with The Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V. as celebrant.

Visitation at the church will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 prior to the mass.

Interment will be private at a later date.
