Kenneth J Macdonald

Kenneth J. MacDonald Sr. 92, of Amsterdam, NY; passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Capstone Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Amsterdam.

Born on November 1, 1926 in Amsterdam, he was the son of the late Daniel and Julia Brennan MacDonald.

Ken received his education at St. Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam, and retired from Coleco Industries in Amsterdam as a Crew Captain.

Ken was an honorably discharged United States Marine Corp veteran, serving his country from 1943 to 1946 with the rank of Corporal.

Ken married his wife, Mary E. Kimball on September 1, 1946. She passed away June 28, 2004.

Survivors include his three sons, Kenneth J. MacDonald Jr. (Sally) of Plattsburgh, NY; James MacDonald of San Francisco, CA; and David MacDonald of Utica, NY ; two daughters, Lois Stephens (David) of Mesquite, Texas and Kathleen Watras (Stan) of Amsterdam, NY; seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Ken was also predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.

Calling hours are Saturday morning from 10:00 to 10:45 prior to the service at the Riley Mortuary

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:45 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010, followed at 11:15 by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY, with Rev. Jeffrey L’Arche, M.S. officiating.

Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
