John J Mcgillin

John J. McGillin Jr., 87 of Glenville and formerly of Amsterdam, passed away Tuesday morning at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.

Born in Amsterdam on June 10, 1934, he was the son of the late John J. McGillin Sr. and Catherine Burns McGillin.

John received his education in Amsterdam at St. Mary's Institute and Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School.

John was a United State Navy veteran serving from 1951 to 1955.

He was employed in the research and development division of General Electric, Schenectady.

John was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary's Church, Amsterdam.

John is survived by his wife, Arlene Schillace McGillin whom he married on April 17, 1955 and his children, Salvatore Michael McGillin of Broadalbin, NY; Eugene Patrick McGillin (Lisa Doyle) of Alexandria, VA; Rose Anne St. John (Michael) of Venice, FL; Katherine Velez (Roy) of Beverly Hills, FL and Anita Christine McGillin of Ft. Meyers FL., 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his son, John J. McGillin III and his sister Kathryn (Samuel L.) Pepe.

Relatives and friends may call at the Riley Mortuary Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the funeral service with Rev. Pascal Iannotti officiating..
