Helen R. Dufel

Helen R. Dufel, 85, formerly of Market Street, Amsterdam, NY; and Tribes Hill, NY; passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam.

Born in Fort Johnson, NY on October 11, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Loretta Scott Tyndall.

Helen received her education in the Amsterdam school system and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School. She also attended the Amsterdam School of Commerce, receiving a certificate in Business Management.

Helen retired from Amsterdam Memorial Hospital as supervisor of the Data Entry Department.

She was a former member of the Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church, where she was an Elder and Deacon, a member and officer of the Eastern Star, Tribes Hill and Fort Johnson Seniors and former member and treasurer of Amaranth.

Helen married Milton Dufel October 6, 1956. Milton passed away November 14, 1997. Helen is survived by one son, Keith Dufel (Lona) of Amsterdam, NY; one daughter, Faye Winsman (Todd) of Fonda, NY; eight grandchildren, Jessica Holt (Eric), Kayla Winsman, Zachary and Damien Dufel, Kendall Ackner, Paul, Craig and Benjamin Jones, two great grandchildren, Connor Kellerman and Sienna Holt, one sister, Faith China, two nephews, John Newell and David Newell (Nilda) and three great nephews, Sean, Daniel and Colin Newell and her two special friends, Eleanor Mathewson and Michelle Philips.

Helen was also predeceased by her son, Jay Dufel, February 2, 2010.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning, June 28, 2021 at 11:00 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY; with Rev. Bonnie Orth officiating.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 to 11:00 prior to the service at Riley Mortuary.

Interment will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, NY.
