Helen Carpenter Brodie passed away on Friday, June 10, 2011, at the age of 96.

Helen was born in Amsterdam, NY, on December 13, 1914, the daughter of Clarence and Ella VanEvera Carpenter. She attended Amsterdam Public Schools, graduating in 1932.

In 1934 she married Robert S. Brodie, and they were married 43 years until his death in 1977. Helen remained in Amsterdam until 1998 when she moved to Naples, FL. In 2005 she moved back north to Queensbury, NY to be near her family.

The past three years she resided at The Home of the Good Shepherd in Saratoga, and was at Westmount Nursing Home in Queensbury at the time of her passing.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her sons, Frederick M. Brodie III and David C. Brodie, her brother, Clarence Carpenter and his wife, Loretta, and her sister, Janet Cole and her husband, Willard.
She is survived by her son, Robert S. Brodie Jr; and his wife Sheila of Diamond Point, NY; a daughter-in-law Mary Clark Brodie of Nova Scotia, 9 grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday morning at 11:00 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc. 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the service.

Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY.

A luncheon for family and friends will be held at a local restaurant.

Memorial gifts in Helen’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
