Gladys Marie Chiappori

Gladys Marie Rainwater Chiappori, 91, of River Ridge Living Center, Amsterdam, NY; passed away May 12, 2018.

Born in Lampasas, Texas on July 1, 1926. She was the daughter of the late William and Nora Griffin Rainwater.

Gladys was a graduate of Lampasas High School. Upon graduation, she attended business school and worked for the FBI in Washington DC until she met her husband, Renato "Chick" Chiappori to whom she married on October 23, 1944 and lived in New York for many years. They moved to Lampasas in the 1990s and she lived there until the passing of her husband on June 27, 2006.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in both Texas and New York, Sons of Italy Auxiliary of Bronx, New York, and a member of the Republican and Conservative Clubs of Texas and New York.

Gladys was very talented seamstress and excellent cook.

Gladys is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Danna and Fred Romanucci of Pompton Plains, New Jersey, Alice Chiappori of Bronxviille, New York, and Nora and Michael Hayden of Greenville, South Carolina. Three grandchildren and their spouses, Rick and Maria Romanucci, Carly and Brian Tudda, and Brigid Hayden. Four great-grandchildren, Silvia Tudda, Jocelyn Tudda, Cameron Cotto and Julianna Romanucci. Three step-granddaughters and spouses, Caitlin and Dennis Thompson, Casey and Tom Marchetti, and Marissa and Dan Greenwood. Ten great step-grandchildren, Reily, Killian, Harper, Declan, Finn, Fiona, Hayleigh, Jacob, Bradon, and Toby.

Cremation was held at Park View Crematory in Schenectady, New York.

There are no calling hours or memorial service.
