Elwyn H Green

Elwyn H. “Al” Green, 80, of Virginia Lane, Amsterdam, NY; passed away Sunday June 16, 2019 at Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Facility in Amsterdam.

Born in Massena, New York on June 1, 1939, he was the son of the late Howard H. and Leila I. Emmons Green.

Al was a graduate of Massena Central School. He was employed as a mechanic at Sikorski’s Service Center in Amsterdam for many years, until his retirement.

Al was a lifetime member of the Polish American Veterans and Bigelow Weavers Clubs both in Amsterdam.

Al is survived by his wife, Margie E Galloway Green who he married April 1, 1960, two sons, Elwyn H. “Hoopie” Green Jr., of Perth, NY; Lyle Green (Patricia) of Amsterdam, three daughters, Leila Green of Amsterdam, Lisa Newkirk (Doug Rose) of Schenectady, NY; and Melissa Green Coupas (Christopher) of Amsterdam, two sisters, Joyce Morse of Corning, NY and Marjorie Raught of the state of Florida, ten grandchildren, Jason, T.J., Ricky, and Joshua Green, Kimberly and Keith Newkirk, Robert Wells IV and Sean Wells, Alan Hart and Katie Furman, five great grandchildren, Frank T. and Maddie Alvarez, Logan Newkirk, Myla Wells and Richard Sanchez III. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Al was also predeceased by four brothers, two sisters, one grandson, Justin Wells and a son-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Clarence Morse and Daniel Raught.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 to 7p.m. at the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

There are no funeral services.

Cremation will take place at Park View Crematory
