A lifelong resident of Amsterdam, NY, Elizabeth Ann Nellis Tesiero passed away surrounded by her family on July 29, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Elizabeth Ann Nellis Tesiero was born on October 20, 1928. She was the daughter of Charles F. and Inez Ryan Nellis. She was educated at St. Mary’s Institute, graduating with the class of 1946. Betty then attended Albany Medical College, where she studied to become a Laboratory Technician. After graduating, she was employed by St. Mary’s Hospital.

Betty was united in marriage with John A. Tesiero Jr. in 1950. While raising four children, she was a consummate community volunteer. She was a member of St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, The Junior Century Club and The Zonta Club of Montgomery-Fulton County.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, John A. Tesiero Jr. and her brother, Charles F. Nellis. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth T. Gaines (Lee), Carol Whelly, John A. Tesiero III (Gloria) and Joseph C. Tesiero (Liz). She had 12 grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren,

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 11:15 at St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010. A viewing hour will precede the mass. Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Institute, 10 Kopernick Boulevard, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
