Edward Laporta

Edward W. LaPorta Jr. 65 of Mergner Road, Fort Johnson, NY, passed away Wednesday morning January 29, 2014 at home.

Born in Amsterdam, NY on April 19, 1948, he was the son of the late Edward W. and Clara Fiorillo LaPorta Sr.

Eddie received his education in the Amsterdam school system and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. He also received his degree in Criminal Justice from Fulton Montgomery Community College in Johnstown, NY.

Eddie retired from Painters Union Local 201, Albany, NY.

Eddie is survived by his wife at home, Loretta Walker LaPorta to whom he married June 12, 1979, two sons, Josh LaPorta (Jocelyn) of Amsterdam and Lance LaPorta and his companion Allisha of Johnstown, NY; two daughters, Michelle LaPorta and her fiancé, Logan Callander of Latham, NY, and Ashley LaPorta of Amsterdam, two brothers, Paul LaPorta and Robert LaPorta (Bonnie), his mother-in-law, Rosalie Walker also of Amsterdam. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Eddie was also predeceased by two brothers, Richard and John LaPorta.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning February 1, 2014 at 11:00 at the Crossroads Community Church, 24 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY; with Pastor Scott Baldwin officiating.

Interment will take place at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Amsterdam.

Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 7 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc. 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY.
