Daniel Quackenbush

Daniel P. Quackenbush, 65, of 26 Wall Street, Amsterdam, NY, passed away Wednesday morning April 16, 2014 at home.

Born in Amsterdam on March 9, 1949, he is the son of Hazlett and Margaret Hyatt Quackenbush of Amsterdam, NY.

Danny received his education at St. Mary’s Institute and graduated from Bishop Scully High School in Amsterdam. He also attended Fulton Montgomery Community College in Johnstown, NY.

Danny was last employed by Painters Union Local 201, Albany, NY, he also worked for Penn-Central Railroad, and various construction jobs.

He was a member of the John J. Wyszomirski American Legion Post 701 Sons and was a former member of the Irish American Club, both in Amsterdam.

Danny played High School football as a halfback and defensive end, participated in the Golden Gloves, enjoyed weightlifting and running. He also enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing and spending time outdoors.

Besides his parents, Danny is survived by four brothers, Lawrence “Buddy” Quackenbush and his companion, Chuck Hansen of Albany, NY., Martin Quackenbush (Linda) of Niskayuna, NY., and Robert and William Quackenbush both of Amsterdam, three sisters, Roberta Trench (Walter) of Broadalbin, NY., Patricia Quackenbush and her companion, Deborah Boone of Norfolk, Virginia, Katherine Quackenbush of Fort Johnson, NY and her fiancé, Mike Blair. Many nieces, nephews and cousins and his good friend Dennis Koller also survive.

Danny was a good son, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held Monday April 21, 2014 at 12:00 noon at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours from 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the Riley Mortuary.
