Catherine Lawrence

Catherine Elizabeth Allen Lawrence, 98 formerly of Taft Place, Amsterdam, NY; went to her heavenly reward on Wednesday afternoon July 24, 2013 at River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam, NY.

Born in Amsterdam, NY; on September 25, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Carr Allen.

Catherine received her education at St. Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam, NY.

She was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam

Catherine worked at Bigelow Sanford Carpet Mill for many years and was lastly employed at St. Mary’s Hospital, in the Medical Records Department, retiring in 1982.

Her husband, George E. Lawrence to whom she married January 16, 1943, passed away September 20, 2004, Catherine was also predeceased by her four sisters, Jane Allen, Rita Allen, Mildred (Robert) MacMorran and Elizabeth Allen, three brothers, Robert, Thomas(Muriel), and Richard.

Catherine is survived by two daughters, Ellen Marohn (William) of Delmar, NY and Christine Hogan (Dennis) of Pittsford, NY; her grandchildren, Peter and Amy Naple, Meghan Marohn, Brendan (Gretchen) Hogan and Michael Hogan, Aaron Pedinotti, Michael Marohn, William (Nicole) Marohn, McKayla, Fitz and Austin Marohn, two sisters, Florence Insogna of Amsterdam, NY and Patricia Patrenicola of Scotia,NY; one brother, Alexander (Sally) Allen of Cobleskill,NY; her sisters-in-law, Helen Avery Allen and Joan Dybas Allen and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Friday afternoon July 26 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Catherine’s Name may be made to St. Mary’s Church, St. Mary’s Institute, 10 Kopernik Blvd, St. Mary’s Healthcare Foundation, 427 Guy Park Ave; or to River Ridge Living Center 100 Sandy Dr. all Amsterdam, NY 12010.
