Bruno Cwiakala

Bruno Cwiakala, 90, formerly of Galway and Amsterdam, NY; passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, February 20, 2019.

Born in the Town of Providence, NY on January 7, 1929, he was the son of the late Walter and Josephine Balicka Cwiakala.

Bruno received his education in the Galway Central school system.

Bruno was a Tool & Die Maker, retiring from General Electric in Schenectady, NY.

He was an honorably discharged United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving from 1950 to 1952. He was a past member of the American Legion Post in Galway, NY.

Bruno is survived by four daughters, Deborah Lampkin (Ken) of Punta Gorda, FL: Gail Weigel of Edinburg, NY; Michele Cwiakala of Amsterdam, and Carol Cwiakala of LaGrange, GA; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Lampkin, Kelly Durakovic (Meki), Joshua Cwiakala, Matthew Weigel (Nicole), Ryan Grab and Erin Hurst (Wesley)., and six great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Bruno was also predeceased by Shirley J. Cwiakala, Stanley Cwiakala, Theodore Cwiakala, Jennie Cwiakala, Mary Nester, Adele Vainauskas and Helen Pawloski.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Saturday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010, where a prayer service will be held at 2:45, with Rev Jeffrey L’Arche, M.S. officiating.

Interment will take place this spring at Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, NY.

The family, would like to extend a special thank you, to Bruno’s Angels at Holiday at the Atrium for all of the compassion and care they gave Bruno.
